Fabric-a-brac total April 2026
We are thrilled to announce the total raised for Mary Potter Hospice in April from Fabric-a-brac Wellington, was our largest total for Wellington ever! $8,150. Well done to the fabulous team in Wellington – the volunteers who measure fabric, bake, help with all the administration and on the day. And thanks to our stallholders and customers that give the event its wonderful vibe. We’re sew delighted with this total! See you in September to do it all again.

About Fabric-a-brac Wellington
Fabric-a-brac is a fun fabric and sewing supplies market where you can shop for vintage and modern sewing and upholstery fabric, patterns, haberdashery and more. It brings the sewing community together to share stashes, stories and delight in our mutual love of textiles.
The first Fabric-a-brac was held in Wellington 15 years ago – we’re sew excited to still be here, bring the sewing community together and raising money for Mary Potter Hospice.
Fabric-a-brac is volunteer-run, and is a fundraiser for hospice – in Wellington this is Mary Potter Hospice. All profits from this event are donated to their work. We’ve raised over $80,000 since that first event in 2009.
Selling fabric
If you have fabric, haberdashery or patterns you’d like to move on you can take a table at the event. You pay a stallholder fee (which goes to Hospice) and then you keep anything you make on the day. There is a ballot for tables – Wellington is always oversubscribed so bear this in mind when you apply, and if you don’t get in – consider our other events. Check out our homepage for details on these.
Donating fabric
You can also donate items. This will all go onto the hospice table on the day, and all profits will go to their wonderful work.
- When we have announced an event date you can donate items to the Mary Potter Hospice in Mein St (not the shops) or Made Marion.
Pop-up cafe
The fabulous cafe is back with tea, coffee, savoury and sweet treats for sale, so you can sit down and chat over your new projects and fabric purchases. All proceeds from the cafe also go to Hospice.
Buying fabric
BRING CASH as most stallholders and the cafe will be selling by cash only.
If you are looking for some new inspiration for future projects, great bargains, wonderful old fabric and quirky bits – Fabric-a-brac is for you. Come along and pick up some fantastic sewing-related bargains.
