About Fabric-a-brac Whangarei
- NEXT EVENT: 2026
We hosted New Zealand’s favourite sewing and fabric event in Northland for the first time in April. We had a huge Hospice stash and around 19 other tables, and a pop-up cafe with some delicious baking donations.
What is Fabric-a-brac? It’s a fun fabric and sewing supplies market where you can shop for vintage and modern sewing and upholstery fabric, patterns, haberdashery and more. It brings the sewing community together to share stashes, stories and delight in our mutual love of textiles.
Fabric-a-brac is volunteer-run, and is a fundraiser for hospice – in Whangarei this is North Haven Hospice. All profits from this event are donated to their work.
Fabric donation points
We are not taking fabric donations for the event specifically, but of course you can donate to North Haven Hospice shops at any time. Shops are located:
- Whangārei: corner of Robert St and James St
- Waipu: 14 The Centre
- Ruakākā: 50A Waiwarawara Drive
- Mangawhai: 41C Moir St

During the event there is tea, coffee and sweet treats for sale in our pop-up cafe, so you can sit down and chat over your new projects and fabric purchases. All proceeds from the cafe also go to North Haven Hospice.
Buying fabric
BRING CASH as most stallholders and the cafe will be selling by cash only.
If you are looking for some new inspiration for future projects, great bargains, beautiful vintage fabric and quirky bits – Fabric-a-brac is for you. Come along and pick up some fantastic sewing-related bargains.
Helping us promote the event
